One person was pronounced dead after a motorcycle crashed on a NJ highway overnight.
It happened in the eastbound lanes of I-80 just before 2 a.m. sending police to the scene where they found the operator laying on the roadway suffering severe injuries after being detached from the motorcycle.
Medical personnel pronounced the unidentified person dead a short time later according to officials.
NJ State Police closed off the eastbound lanes of the highway from exit 19-27 for the crash investigation.
There were no other injuries immediately reported.
UPDATE: (1:28 p.m.) Officials identified motorcyclist as Brandon Lastfogel, 30, of Boonton.
