Police officials in Newark report the second arrest in less than a year of Mr. William D. Seay, 53, of Newark for an incident of illegal dumping today -Wednesday-.
According to a statement released by police, at approximately 7:35 a.m., a City of Newark Property Inspector observed a man unloading large amounts of debris onto the ground from the rear of a white box truck at a vacant lot in the 100-block of Dewey Street.
Police say the discarded items included bricks, sheetrock, concrete, large garbage bags and numerous types of metals.
The Property Inspector apprised members of the Illegal Dumping Task Force, who responded to the area and arrested Seay on charges of Illegal Dumping and Illegal Transport of Solid Waste.
Police say the vehicle used to transport the dumped materials was towed and is subject to seizure by forfeiture.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
According to police,’Seay was previously arrested on June 29th, 2017 on the same charges after members of the Illegal Dumping Task Force observed him discarding furniture, lamps, and wood from a Nissan Pathfinder parked in the 600-block of Hunterdon Street.
