The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the investigation into a shooting that fatally injured a man in Orange while he reportedly rode his motorcycle early this morning.
According to a brief statement released by authorities, the incident happened in the vicinity of 360 Park Avenue at around 12:35 a.m. where police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of shots fired.
First responding officers found Mr. Neil Myers, 23, of Irvington unconscious and unresponsive after suffering a single gunshot wound to the abdomen authorities said.
Police say University Hospital doctors pronounced Myers dead at 12:55 a.m.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
There are no arrests reported.
