A police pursuit that began in Hillside ended in a Newark crash and arrested early this morning -Tuesday-.
According to preliminary reports, Hillside Police began to follow a vehicle in their town that refused to pull over for officers after violating traffic laws.
The driver of the suspected vehicle began to speed down Hillside Street making his way into Newark's South Ward where it crashed into a pole and several parked cars in the vicinity of Lehigh Avenue and Bergen Street at around 3:35 a.m.
Authorities say at least two suspects then bailed from the car but were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.
EMS were called to the scene for non-life threatening injuries, but there were no reports of injured officers according to reports.
The crash destroyed about four vehicles according to police.
The pursuit remains under investigation.
