A threat that was reported at an Essex County Vocational-Technical School in Newark placed staff and students on lockdown on Friday.
According to a brief statement released by authorities, the incident happened at approximately noon at the Newark Technical School located on Market Street where officials say the school received an unfounded and unspecified threat.
Parents who contacted RLS Metro Breaking News' staff said their children informed them by phone that police officers, with search dogs, made their way into the building and began making round in the building.
Staff and students were informed of the lockdown status that lasted for more than an hour according to officials.
Officials have launched an investigation into the threat.
