State Police Assists NYPD in Arresting Union Man for Brooklyn Murder Investigation

The New Jersey State Police assisted the New York City Police Department with a murder investigation after troopers discovered that Tyemear Jones, 24, of Brooklyn, N.Y. was wanted for questioning after he was arrested for failing to pay a taxi fare.

Police say on Sunday, May 6, at approximately 5:58 a.m., troopers from Bloomfield Station responded to the Vauxhall Service Area on the Garden State Parkway for the report of a theft.

According to police when troopers arrived, the victim stated that Jones failed to pay a taxi fare and fled.

Troopers later located Jones at a residence in Union Township where he was arrested without incident.

During the investigation, detectives discovered Jones was in possession of a bloody knife and that he was wanted for questioning by the NYPD in connection to a murder that occurred in Brooklyn.

The State Police charged Tyemear Jones with theft and obstruction. The NYPD charged Jones with murder and alleged that he used the knife that troopers discovered to murder his father.

Charges are mere accusations, and the accused is considered innocent until proved guilty.
