Gunfire rang out in the 800 block of Grove Street around 1 a.m sending police rushing to scene where a male victim was fatally shot, multiple times.
Residents that live nearby said police found the man unconscious and unresponsive when the sound of police sirens woke them out of their sleep. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Medics.
Police setup a crime scene as they searched the area for shell casings and other evidence.
Investigators from the Essex County Prosecutors Office were on the scene handling the investigation. The name or identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
