Authorities in Newark are investigating a shots fired incident that left one person injured in the city's Ironbound section on Monday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to an address in the 300 block of Lafayette Street after receiving reports of shots fired at around 9:30 a.m.
Upon their arrival, police found a person suffering a gunshot injury to the hand reports said.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where doctors treated the non-life threatening injury.
Police established a crime scene and are investigating the possibility of an accidental self-infliction.
The incident remains under investigation.
