A man who barricaded himself inside a house had police and SWAT in a neighborhood in Seaside Heights overnight.
According to a preliminary statement, police were called to a residence in the 200 block of Hamilton Avenue for reports of shots fired at approximately 3 a.m.
Upon their arrival, officers learned that a male locked himself inside the house and refused to come out.
Local police contacted SWAT who reportedly made entry into the house where they found the man suffering a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound inside a bedroom.
There were no other injuries reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
