Jersey City police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead and a woman injured overnight.
According to police Wednesday at approximately 9:50 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of a male shot on Merseles Court in Jersey City.
Responding Police Officers found a male victim inside a residence at 21 Merseles Court suffering gunshot wounds.’
Police later identified the victim as Kamal McCord,19, of Jersey City.
Police say McCord was found in a lifeless condition with an apparent gunshot wound to his torso.
Medical personel pronounced McCord dead at the scene at approximately 10:00 p.m.
The cause and manner of death are pending an investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
Responding Police Officers also found a female victim outside of a residence in the area of 17 Merseles Court.
Police say the 21-year-old female victim had an apparent gunshot wound to one of her extremities.
EMS rushed the victim to Jersey City Medical Center where doctors treated non-life threatening injuries.
The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
