Authorities announced the arrest of **Mr. Amir Copeland, 24, Mr. Siheem Copeland, 20, Ms. Nyasia Muse, 23 and Mr. Kassan Simms, 22, all of Newark**, for possession of a loaded handgun, robbery and receiving stolen property in connection with a commercial robbery on May 2nd.
According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, at approximately noon on Wednesday, police were called to investigate reports of an armed robbery that occurred in the 400 block of Central Avenue where the suspects also allegedly held up customers.
Officials say an off-duty Newark Sergeant spotted the suspects in a tan Durango and managed to get the license plate information from the vehicle
.
Police Dispatch provided fast responding officers, who were already on patrol, with information and determined the truck was reported stolen.
Director Ambrose said police spotted the vehicle but as officers approached, the driver accelerated and lost control of the truck.
The occupants bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot but were quickly apprehended by police without incident.
Police charged Amir Copeland with the unlawful possession of a handgun, aggravated assault while eluding, eluding, receiving stolen property and conspiracy.

According to police, Kassan Simms, was in possession of CDS and was charged with three counts of robbery, the unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of cocaine and heroin, possession with intent to distribute, receiving stolen property and conspiracy.
“Working together, an off-duty officer as well as a team of detectives and on-duty personnel were able to arrest four dangerous, armed criminals and remove them from our streets without anyone being injured. I commend all involved for a job well done,” said Director Ambrose.
The charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
