Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that members of the Newark Fire Division extinguished a fire at 492 South 20th Street last night.
Fire officials say at approximately 10:22 p.m., nine companies of the Newark Fire Division responded to the two-story, unoccupied residential building.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and both were transported to University Hospital.
One firefighter was treated for a minor cut and the second for a contusion to his ankle. Both have been released.
There were no other injuries reported.
The fire was considered under control at 11:08 p.m.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the Newark Fire Division’s Arson Unit.
