The driver of a car was transported to University Hospital after a carjacking incident left him injured in Newark overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to an address on Frelinghuysen Avenue when they received reports of a carjacking in progress shortly after 12:30 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering non-life threatening injuries after a suspect approached and conducted the carjacking.
Police are looking for a 2015 dark colored Mercedes with reported NY license plate numbers "HWA-2493" that was taken by the suspect.
The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on I-280 just before 2 a.m. according to reports.
It is not clear if the suspect used a weapon during an incidnet and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
