Harrison Police Search for Suspect Wanted for Attempted Robbery of Livery Cab Driver

Harrison Police are on the search for a man who attempted to rob a livery cab driver in the city Saturday night.

According to a preliminary statement released by police, the incident happened at approximately 1:44 a.m. when Harrison Police officers were flagged down at North 3rd and Hamilton Street by a 47-year-old livery car driver from East Newark.

Police officials say the driver reported that just after dropping off a customer, he stopped in the 300 block of William Street when an unknown Hispanic male approached his car holding what appeared to be a handgun.

According to police, the suspect never spoke nor attempted to take anything from the victim, but he violently struck the front windshield with the butt of the gun causing it to crack.

The victim cautiously drove the short distance from the scene where he spotted a police unit who are actively on patrol during the overnight hours in the area.

Police canvassed the area in an attempt to locate the suspect but, a thorough search ended in negative results according to police.

The suspect wore khaki pants, and a black jacket police said.

The Harrison Police Department encourages residents, businesses owners, and visitors to continue to be observant and aggressive by immediately reporting suspicious activities and individuals to police.
