Newark fire officials are investigating a fire that tore through a house in the city's West Ward overnight.
The fast-moving fire broke out in a two and a half story house at 84 Monticello Avenue just before midnight sending firefighters to the scene where they arrived to find fire ripping through the upper levels of the house.
Crews were able to beat flames back to gain entry into the residence where they did not find any trapped or injured occupants according to reports.
The fire was placed under control in under an hour with 8 residents displaced.
The cause remains under investigation.
