Authorities announced the arrest if a 33-year-old Somerset man wanted in connection with the armed robbery of a Wawa store.
According to police, Monday morning at approximately 1:15 am, patrol units were called to the Wawa Store on Route 27 and Cozzens Lane for a report of an armed robbery.
Upon arrival, units learned that a male subject walked into the business and began stealing several items from throughout the store. Once confronted by employees, the suspect brandished a handgun and continued to take additional items.
Police said the suspect fired at least two shots from the handgun as he fled the store on foot.
Officers and detectives immediately began their investigation and developed a person of interest. Later that day, police arrested Cleon Jones Jr., 33, of Somerset.
During that arrest, police said they recovered a handgun.
According to officials, police charged Jones with multiple crimes, including Robbery, Possession of a weapon, Possession of a weapon unlawful purpose, and theft.
There were no injuries reported during this incident.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
