A Trenton man has been arrested for the death of a 20-year-old man who was found with his hands tied on the bank of a Hamilton creek last week.
Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri announced that Rufus Thompson, 29, has been charged with kidnapping and murdering Danny Diaz-Delgado on March 24 before leaving his body on the bank of Assunpink Creek.
According to authorities, on Mar. 24th at approximately 2 p.m., Hamilton police officers were dispatched to the corner of Sixth Avenue and Assunpink Boulevard on the report of an unconscious and unresponsive male near the canal.
Responding officers located Danny Diaz-Delgado, 20, of Trenton, face down and unresponsive with his hands tied behind his back and tape around his face.
Officials say they found Delgado shot in the torso, head, and leg multiple times then pronounced dead at the scene.
Police arrested Thompson Saturday morning at a friend's house in Trenton. Officials said in addition to kidnapping and murder charges, he also faces felony murder, robbery and weapons charges.
