Authorities announced the arrest of Raul Quinones, 29, of Camden, charged with the stabbing death of his girlfriend and attempting to kill her son on March 25, 2018.
Camden County Police responded to reports of a woman who had been stabbed by her boyfriend in the area of the 2800 block of Garfield Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. yesterday.
When they arrived, they found 37-year-old Elaine Jimenez suffering from stab wounds in the intersection of 29th Street and Arthur Avenue. EMS transported her to Cooper University Hospital where she was pronounced deceased at 3:36 p.m.
Officers then located her 20-year-old son seriously wounded inside of their Camden home. According to police, he was rushed to a local hospital where he remains hospitalized.
During the investigation, it was determined that Raul Quinones had entered Elaine Jimenez’s home that afternoon to retrieve some of his belongings. When he entered the residence, he stabbed Elaine Jimenez before she fled the house injured and on foot.
While inside of the house, Quinones also stabbed her 20-year-old son several times before following his girlfriend out of the home. Police said he continued to attack Elaine Jimenez outside of the residence before he fled the area on his motorcycle.
Authorities charged Raul Quinones with one count of first degree Murder and one count of first degree Attempted Murder, according to Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson.
According to officials, Raul Quinones was arrested at his residence on Fountain Avenue late last night by the United States Marshals Task Force without incident and was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a pretrial detention hearing.
Under the Criminal Justice Reform rules, the court may order he be detained or released with conditions.
The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing.
