Newark Police reports the arrest of Mr. Steve S. Allen, 43, of Newark, in connection with a school burglary that occurred today -Saturday-.
According to police, at approximately 3:25 a.m., officers responding to several citizen reports of a burglar inside the Belmont Runyon Street School, located at 68 West Runyon Street.
Police say they observed Allen inside the school upon their arrival when he attempted to escape by climbing through a window after becoming aware of police presence.
Police immediately apprehended Allen without incident then charged him with Burglary, Theft, Eluding and Contempt of Court.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
