An arrest warrant has been issued for the arrest of a suspect wanted for an attack that left one person injured in Newark in early March.
Police say Mr. Stephens Wood, 25, of Newark, is wanted on an aggravated assault charge in an incident that occurred on Monday, March 5, 2018.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, at approximately 10:00 p.m., police responded to University Hospital where they met with the victim who suffered a facial injury after Woods allegedly struck him in the face with a bottle.
Doctors treated the victim for the injury then released him according to Director Ambrose.
Newark detectives investigating the incident identified Wood as a suspect in this incident then secured a warrant for his arrest on a charge of Aggravated Assault.
Director Ambrose said Wood is described as 5’6” tall and weighs 145 lbs.
He has brown eyes and black hair Director Ambrose said.
While police are actively searching for Wood, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from city streets.
