Emergency responders are on the scene of a pedestrian strike that has one confirmed fatality in downtown Newark at this time.
The incident happened under the bridge on Broad Street just at Division -the old Lincoln Motel/Zanzibar at around 2:35 p.m.
According to preliminary reports, the truck struck the woman and left the scene.
Police are looking for a tractor trailer with a car carrier that was last seen traveling northbound on Broad.
Police have Broad Street closed and detoured at Bridge Street going northbound and southbound traffic is being diverted at the Burger King.
The identity of the woman has not been released at this time.
