Shooting at Irvington Gas Station Leaves One Seriously Injured

Police are investigating an overnight shooting at a gas station in Irvington that left one person shot and seriously wounded. 

Gunfire rang out  around 1:45 a.m. at the BP Gas Station located in the 40's block Union Ave. sending one person to the hospital after being struck at least two times according to reports. The victim was taken to University Hospital in Newark in serious condition. Several vehicles in the area was also struck by the rounds of  gunfire.  

A black jeep was reportedly last seen fleeing the area after the shooting. It did not immediately appear that the victim was an attendant or customer at the station.  Preliminary reports indicate the incident being an isolated incident that originated close by. The gas station is one of the few that the township has. 

An investigation is underway by Irvington Police.
