Police in Newark's East Ward are investigating a double shooting that occurred this evening. ..
Reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of Pennington and Dawson streets at around 5 p.m. sent police to the scene where they found evidence that a shooting occurred but no victims.
Officers were later informed that the victim was transported by private vehicle to University Hospital.
A further investigation had police locate a second victim in the 80's block of Jabez.
The extent of both victims' injuries have not been disclosed. Police have crime scenes established at both locations at this time.
UPDATE 5:42 pm. One victim with severe injuries, the other shot to the hand.
