A man and a woman are facing multiple weapons-related charges after police seized $35,000 worth of heroin, two high-capacity ammunition magazines and more than 600 rounds of ammunition in Brick Thursday night.
According to police, on Feb 8th, at approximately 11 p.m. the Brick Township, Drug Enforcement Unit stopped a vehicle in the area of Lowes Home Improvement, located on Route 70 in Brick Township.
After a brief investigation, detectives searched the vehicle and said they recovered approximately 200 grams of heroin with an estimated street value of $35,000.00, two 30 round high capacity magazines fully loaded with .223 caliber ammunition plus an additional 292 rounds, 51 hollow point bullets (.223 caliber), a .380 caliber magazine loaded with six bullets plus an other 50 rounds, 99 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition and approximately $1,700.00 in cash.
As a result, officers arrested and charged Phillip Tarver, 34, of Toms River, with obstructing, hindering apprehension, possession of high capacity magazine, possession of hollow point ammunition, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute (over five ounces). Police said Tarver also had outstanding warrants on other charges out of Ocean County.
Officers also arrested Rajuonna Baker, 22, of Lakewood, and charged her with possession of a high capacity magazine and possession of hollow point ammunition.
According to police, both arrestees were transported and lodged in Ocean County Jail after processing.
