An Atlantic County Grand Jury handed down an indictment for three men and one woman in connection to charges for drugs, guns and conspiracy among gang members, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.
A Grand Jury Thursday, charged Isaiah Cooper, 28, of Pleasantville, Umar Salahuddin, 25, of Pleasantville, Tariq Tucker, 26, of Hamilton Township and Kiona Dorsey, 24, of Pleasantville, in a 97-Count indictment based upon the execution of multiple search warrants in Pleasantville, on March 16, 2017.
As a result of the warrants, law enforcement personnel seized multiple firearms, including a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun, a loaded Ruger handgun with a high-capacity magazine, an Action Arms Uzi-type sub machine gun and multiple extended magazines, a large capacity drum magazine containing hollow point bullets, a .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun, and more than a hundred rounds of hollow-point and ball ammunition. Law enforcement also seized controlled dangerous substances, including multiple wax folds containing heroin, a quantity of cocaine.
The indictment charged Umar Salahuddin, Isaiah Cooper, Tariq Tucker, and Kiona Dorsey with various counts of distribution of heroin and cocaine. In addition, Salahuddin, Cooper, and Tucker were charged with first-degree gang criminality in possessing firearms and distributing CDS while in association with, or for the benefit of, the South Side Mob criminal street gang. Umar Salahuddin and Isaiah Cooper additionally are charged with operating or maintaining a CDS production facility, a crime of the first degree, as well as first-degree distribution of cocaine in an amount greater than five ounces and second-degree distribution of heroin in an amount greater than one-half ounce, second-degree unlawful possession of an assault firearm, and second-degree possession of a firearm when each previously was convicted of a crime.
Other counts charge all four defendants with conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine and financial facilitation of a crime (money laundering). Umar Salahuddin and Isaiah Cooper are currently in custody at the Atlantic County Justice Facility; Tariq Tucker and Kiona Dorsey are pending arrest.
The indictment followed an extensive gang investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Pleasantville Police Department. The drug investigation was handled by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns & Narcotics Unit, Pleasantville Police Department, FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the New Jersey State Police Atlantic City Task Force, which culminated with the execution of a multiple court-approved search warrants in March 2017.
These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt. In all criminal cases, a charged defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
