UPDATE: Police Arrest Woman for Fatal Jersey City Car Crash

Police in Jersey City charged a woman with a crash that killed a woman on Saturday morning.

According to police, shortly after 12:00 p.m., the driver involved in the fatal crash that occurred on Saturday in the area of Newark Avenue and 7th Street in Jersey City surrendered without incident to detectives of the Hudson County Regional Fatal Collision Unit.

Authorities said the driver, Ms. Khadija Hamilton, 27, of Jersey City, has been charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, Death by Auto, and Driving Unlicensed and Causing Death.

Hamilton's attorney accompanied her to police headquarters authorities said.

The fatal crash occurred early Saturday morning. Responding Jersey City Police Officers found a female victim in the backseat of the crashed 2000 Honda Accord.

The victim was identified as Khalla Nguyen, 24, of Jersey City.

Medics pronounced her dead at the scene at approximately 3:30 a.m.

The initial investigation showed that the car was traveling east on Newark Avenue when it made contact with a metal guardrail.

The car came to a stop in the middle of Newark Avenue, near 7th Street.

The Hudson County Regional Fatal Collision Unit is continuing to investigate this incident.
