The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a shooting that left three people shot with two of them succumbing to their injuries at a location in the city this afternoon.
Reports of shots fired sent police to the Chambersburg section of the city at around 2:30 p.m. where they found a vehicle penetrated by bullets near Ashmore Avenue and Washington Street.
Authorities reportedly found one victim suffering a gunshot wound to his head and chest and another victim suffering a gunshot wound to the neck inside the car.
Authorities said both were transported to the hospital where doctors later pronounced them dead.
Police found a third victim, inside a separate vehicle, struck by gunfire but their injuries were not immediately reported as fatal.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
