Rahway police Release Surveillance Image in Hopes Public Can ID Shooting Suspect

Rahway police need the public's help in identifying a person of interest who they believe shot a 33-year-old man Thursday morning after attempting to rob him.

The victim was walking on the 300 block of Elm Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. when he was approached by two men who demanded his money, Capt. James Connolly said a statement.

The surveillance photos show this man moments before the shooting, firing and striking the victim once in the shoulder, according to police. 

Suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his early 30s, dark hair, fade-style haircut, chin strap beard, tattoos on both arms, who was seen wearing camouflage shorts and a vest with an American flag on both the back and front left side.

The victim transported to University Hospital in Newark with non-life-threatening  injuries police said.
