A stubborn single-alarm fire that destroyed a house in Newark sent firefighters to the scene early this morning.
Heavy fire broke out at 9 Stanton Street, shortly before 4 a.m., rushing firefighters and emergency responders to the scene where they observed heavy flames tearing through the second floor windoe of the two-story house.
Firefighters were able to make fast entry inside the structure where a search for trapped and injured occupants were negative.
The fire was placed under control in about a half hour.
The cause remains under investigation by Newark Fire officials.
