Trespasser Killed by NJ Transit Northeast Corridor Train in Elizabeth

New Jersey Transit Police are investigating an incident where a train struck a trespasser in Elizabeth causing fatal injuries overnight.

According to NJ Transit officials, the incident happened at around 11:20 p.m. when the 10:57 p.m. Northeast Corridor train number 7883 out of NYC Penn Station struck an unidentified trespasser on the Chestnut Street tracks in Elizabeth.

Officials said none of the 600 passengers and crew members were injured but the Trenton bound train was delayed and passengers were assigned to another train.

Medics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene according to officials.

Authorities are continuing their investigation.
