The Vineland Police Department Detective Bureau is actively investigating a shooting that occurred on the property of the Cumberland Mall located at 3849 S. Delsea Drive.
According to police, officers from the Vineland Police Department were dispatched to the area of the Boscov’s Department Store parking lot today for a report of a gunshot victim who indicated that he had been the victim of a robbery and that he had been shot.
Arriving officers located the 29-year-old male victim who told police that he arrived at the mall with the intent to purchase narcotics from an unidentified subject.
According to the victim, the unknown accused attempted to rob him as he sat in the passenger’s side of the accused’s vehicle. During this transaction the accused subject stole cash from the victim and shot him one time in the leg.
The victim managed to exit the vehicle and ultimately contacted police.
The victim was later transported to the hospital where he was treated for his injury.
This was not a random incident and the victim and the accused subject made an arrangement to meet on the property of the mall to conduct this transaction. When notified of the incident, mall management instituted security measures to protect customers who may have been in the area.
The Vineland Police Department Detective Bureau is currently investigating this incident and is reviewing surveillance video of the incident.
