Authorities announced the arrest of Eury F. Silverio-Torres, 25, of Newark, who was wanted for a shooting that occurred on December 24, 2017.
According to police, at approximately 9 p.m., detectives on patrol in the area of Central Avenue and 7th Street heard gunshots coming from the Exxon Service Station at 481 Central Avenue.
Arriving detectives observed a silver 4-door Toyota Camry exiting the gas station and driving erratically. Despite the officer’s attempt to stop the vehicle, the Camry fled on South 7th Street.
As part of their investigation, detectives determined that a second vehicle, a silver or light colored Volkswagen, was also involved in the incident.
Detectives developed sufficient evidence to secure a warrant for the arrest of Eury F. Silverio-Torres on charges of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
Police arrested Silverio-Torres today without incident.
These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
