Newark House Fire Displaces Over a Dozen Residents

Newark firefighters were able to swiftly knock down a fast-moving fire that ignited inside a house in Newark early this morning.

Several 911 calls had police responding to 118 South 11th Street at approximately 8:37 a.m. where they arrived to find heavy fire coming from the second floor of the two and a half story house.

Crews were able to make immediate entry inside the residence where a search for trapped or injured occupants came back negative.

The American Red Cross provided shelter for about ten adults and seven children according to preliminary reports.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Newark Fire officials.
