The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has identified a man killed as a result of a shooting in Newark overnight.
According to authorities, police found Mr. Arthur Ruff, 53, suffering a gunshot wound in the vicinity of 2nd Street and Central Avenue at around 12:15 a.m.
EMS rushed to the scene and began life saving medical techniques on Ruff before transporting him the short distance to University Hospital where officials said he died at around 12:30 a.m.
A crime scene was established in the area by detectives where they searched for evidence in an attempt to determine a motive for the shooting.
The investigation is active, ongoing, and conducted by The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Division.
The shooter remains at-large.
