Police announced the arrest of two Newark men wanted in connection with a business burglary that took place on Dec. 25th.
According to police, at approximately 5:30 a.m., officers patrolling the area of South 7th Street and 15th Avenue observed a Dodge Pickup Truck on the sidewalk in front of a convenience store located at 300 South 7th Street.
Officers approached the vehicle to issue the driver summonses, but as they approached, the driver of the pickup drove away.
The two males, later identified as Rahmar White, 45, and Jamal Burford, 38, both of Newark, exited the convenience store running but were immediately apprehended by police.
The pickup truck - which was reported stolen out of Belleville - was abandoned on 15th Avenue after it crashed into a parked vehicle. Burglary tools were near the convenience store.
Police have charged White and Burford with Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, Resisting Arrest, Theft, and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary.
These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
