Early Morning Fire Rips Through Irvington Township Beauty Salon

Irvington Township

Firefighters in Irvington Township teamed up with several municipalities to battle a raging two-alarm fire that ripped through business in the township early this morning.

Residents in the 1100 block of Clinton Avenue dialed 911 after they witnessed fire gutting a beauty salon located at 1142 Clinton Avenue shortly before 4:20 a.m.

Fast responding Irvington firefighters raced to the scene with Maplewood firefighters making their approach to the scene and observed heavy fire tearing through the top floor of the three-story structures. Orange and Bloomfield Fire Departments provided excellent assist coverage at the scene.

Crews went on a defensive attack after evacuation tones began to sound because of the stability of the business and possible structure collapses according to preliminary reports.

It took firefighters about one hour to bring the fast-moving fire under control.

As of 5:42 a.m., our staff could not confirm injured or trapped occupants.
