The Mercer County Narcotics Task Force concluded a six-week investigation this week with one arrest, and the seizure of cash, a handgun and $30,000 in drugs, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.
According to authorities, on December 18th officers with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Hamilton and Trenton police, under the command of the prosecutor’s Special Investigations Unit, executed search warrants at Brian McQueen’s Division Street residence in Trenton.
After observing McQueen enter his home, the Trenton Police SWAT Team knocked and announced its police authority. They forced entry when no response was received and upon entry, McQueen threw his pit bull toward approaching officers, yelling, “Get them.” The dog was shot as it attempted to attack officers.
Police arrested 29-year-old McQueen without further incident. A search of the residence revealed 72 bricks of heroin, 516 oxycodone and Xanax pills, $60,377 in cash, and a stolen .45 caliber handgun.
Detective Sergeant Brian Kiely stated the seized heroin has an approximate street value of $14,400. The oxycodone and Xanax pills have an approximate street value of $16,000.
Officials charged McQueen with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, two counts of possession with the intent to distribute, certain persons not to possess a handgun, receiving stolen property, possessing a firearm while committing a narcotics offense and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to have him detained.
Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
