An Atlantic City man has been indicted for human trafficking and promoting prostitution, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.
According to authorities, on December 19th, an Atlantic County Grand Jury returned a 4-count Indictment against Tahir Gregory, 38, of Atlantic City, for the Human Trafficking of two females. One of the females was forced to engage in prostitution through threats of serious bodily harm, confiscation of her identifying documents, and through the provision of drugs. The other female was forced into prostitution through threats of serious bodily harm and the provision of drugs. Gregory forced the women to turn over all of the proceeds they made from prostitution activity.
The specific Human Trafficking counts for which Gregory was indicted are First Degree counts which carry a minimum of 20 years in State Prison, of which 20 years must be served before being eligible for parole, and a maximum of life imprisonment. Gregory, 38, of Atlantic City, was arrested on the charges in September.
This was the result of a long-term joint investigation and cooperative effort between the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force and the Atlantic City Police Department. Senior Assistant Prosecutor Danielle Buckley represents the State.
These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt. In all criminal cases, a charged defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
