Two instances of gunfire that rang out in the city's West and South wards are under investigation by Newark Police.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the area of Avon Avenue and South 16th Street shortly before 2 p.m. sending police to the scene where they arrived to find evidence that a shooting occurred but no injured victims.
Police set up a crime scene where they found two shells casings and the suspect responsible for the shooting remains at-large.
In a separate shooting, gunfire rang out at 202 Brookdale Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. where arriving police officers found shell casings but no injured victims according to reports.
The motive for both shootings remain under investigation.
