A 51-year-old Lakewood Township man died after he was struck by a motor vehicle along Route 9 in Howell Sunday evening, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
The pedestrian, Isidro Martinez-Mendez, was crossing Route 9 northbound, a quarter-mile south of Alexander Avenue, at approximately 7:43 p.m. on Sunday evening when he was struck by a 2016 Honda Accord driven by Christina Martinez, 22, of Jackson.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:56 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and Howell Police Department.

According to police, Martines’ vehicle had one occupant in the car, age 10, both were uninjured.
