Three Separate Saturday House Fires Leave 32 Displaced in Newark

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that members of the Newark Fire Division faced three fires in about 8 hours on Saturday.

According to fire officials, at approximately 7:35 p.m., 53 firefighters brought a fire that ignited inside a building under control at 257 Aldine Street.

Fire ripped through a two and a half story occupied residential structure that had four people evacuated with one male adult transported to St. Barnabas Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. Fire officials said at least ten people were relocated in this fire.

Newark firefighters battled a raging fire that broke out at 43 Montrose Street shortly after 4 p.m where officials said during this incident, four adults and three children were relocated after fire ripped through their two and a half story occupied building, but crews brought the blaze under control at around 4:29 p.m.

An early afternoon fire that erupted at 47 3rd Street, at approximately 2 p.m., sent nearly 40 firefighters to the scene to battle the blaze.

Fire officials said two families, totaling eight adults and seven children, were relocated but there were no injuries reported at this location.

Members of the Newark Fire Division's Arson Unit will investigate all three incidents.
