The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into an incident where one person was found dead on an Irvington Township street overnight.
Township police officers set up a crime scene in the vicinity of Myrtle Avenue at 18th Avenue before 3:30 a.m. where detectives focused their attention on a minivan that centered around them locating the unidentified body of at least one (1) victim of an apparent gunshot wound according to preliminary reports.
As investigators processed the crime scene, police towed the vehicle from the scene while detectives attempted to find the motive behind the incident.
The investigation is active, ongoing, and continuing to develop.
