Authorities announced the arrest of Ibn Jones, 18, and two juvenile males, all from Newark, for an armed robbery that occurred yesterday.
According to police, at approximately 7:50 p.m., a man was robbed of his cash and personal property, including a cell phone, by three male suspects who displayed a handgun in the area of Vaughn Drive and West Market Street.
Responding officers tracked the phone to Irvine Turner Boulevard near Springfield Avenue, where three individuals fitting the description of the suspects were located.
Police arrested Ibn Jones and a 13-year-old juvenile who were charged with Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
The third suspect, a 17-year-old male juvenile, was charged with Receiving Stolen Property.
Police recovered an Airsoft replica handgun.
These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
