Utility crews are on the scene repairing a water main break that erupted on a street in Newark's North Ward earlier today.
The break happened at around 10:50 a.m. on 4th Avenue near North 9th Street where emergency responders found flooded streets and residents complaining of water in their basements.

Crews encountered conditions that worsened during their attempt to cap the broken main.
Officials stated that as of 12:10 p.m., massive flooding caused the ground to erode and reduced water pressure inside homes.
Residents should expect service to disconnect as repairs continue temporarily.
