An early morning shooting that occurred on a Jersey City street sent a man to the hospital suffering severe injuries.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of Martin Luther King Drive and Wade Street before 2 a.m. where first arriving officers found the victim bleeding after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the back and chest.
EMS rushed the victim to Jersey City Medical Center where doctors listed him in serious condition as of 3 a.m.
Detectives set up a crime scene in the area where they searched for evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
There were no arrests immediately reported.
