A driver, accused of striking a pedestrian and crashing into two cars yesterday, suffered a heart attack before the crash.
According to police, officers responded to Summit Avenue near the state office building around noon for a report of a crash.
Preliminary reports indicated that the driver who had just made a left-hand turn from Sip Avenue, went into cardiac arrest. The driver subsequently struck a female pedestrian then reportedly caused a chain reaction crash.
The driver was rushed to an area hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
EMS rushed the female pedestrian to Jersey City Medical Center with a non-life threatening injury to her arm. The driver of the second car suffered minor injuries while the driver of the third car refused medical attention.
