Police took a woman into custody and reportedly charged her with Driving Under the Influence after the woman crashed her vehicle into a police car in Newark's West Ward on Friday night.
The incident happened near the intersection of 18th and Sunset avenues shortly before 10:45 p.m. when the woman lost control of her vehicle and rear-ended a police car that was occupied by a Newark Police Sergeant according to preliminary reports.
The sergeant was inside the vehicle investigating a prior shooting when the woman's car slammed into the police car.
There were no severe injuries immediately reported.
