Firefighters swiftly extinguished a fire that fully engulfed a car in Newark's South Ward overnight.
According to reports, residents in the 60's block of Schuyler Avenue contacted police after they heard several loud popping noises that resembled gunfire.
Police and firefighters arrived at the scene and found a car on fire at that location.
Firefighters were able to knock the flames down where they then searched the vehicle for trapped and injured victims.
Police found several bullet holes in the vehicle, but there were no injuries reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
