Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edsion Police Department said a Edison man has been charged with causing the death of a motorcyclist.
According to authorities, Vishwalee Gummakonda, 25, of Edison was charged with the second degree crime of death by auto and driving while intoxicated.
During the investigation, it was determined that Matthew Muklewicz, of North Brunswick, was stopped at a light on the corner of Route 1 and Plainfield Avenue when Gummakonda - who driving a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fa Wagon - rear-ended the motorcycle. Muklewicz was pronounced dead at the scene last night just past midnight.
The investigation is active and is continuing.
The crash is being investigated by Detective Joseph Bench of the Edison Police Department and Detective Donald Heck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Gummakonda are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
