Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a man who allegedly assaulted a woman on Friday afternoon.
According to police, at approximately 4:12 p.m., police responded to a North Ward residence on a call of an aggravated assault.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman who had been choked by a man she knows, who also threatened her life, following a dispute. The woman refused medical attention for her injuries.
Authorities said detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Mr. Roberto Gonzalez, 26, of Newark, as the suspect in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of Aggravated Assault and Terroristic Threats.
Police described Gonzalez as a light-skinned Hispanic male, 5’6” tall, 190 lbs. with Black hair and brown eyes.
The investigation is active and continuing.
